# Two stems

> task=gen_stem_two — vocals and instrumental

Split a clip into two stems: vocals and instrumental. `max_mode` is **HTTP 400**. If you omit `make_instrumental`, the server sends `true`.

`POST /suno/v2/generate` returns `{ "taskId" }`. Poll [Get Task Status](/api-reference/suno/task). Schema: `GET /suno/v2/generate/schema?task=gen_stem_two`.

## Parameters

| `task` | Yes | `"gen_stem_two"` |
| `model` | Yes | `chirp-v6` recommended |
| `clip_id` | Yes | Clip to split |
| `title` | No | Label for the result |
| `make_instrumental` | No | Defaults to `true` on this task |

Do not send `max_mode`.
