# Sample

> task=sample — new song from a time range of a clip

Chop a time range out of `clip_id` and write a new song from it. `prompt` is the new lyric.

`POST /suno/v2/generate` returns `{ "taskId" }`. Poll [Get Task Status](/api-reference/suno/task). Schema: `GET /suno/v2/generate/schema?task=sample`.

## Parameters

| `task` | Yes | `"sample"` |
| `model` | Yes | `chirp-v6` recommended |
| `clip_id` | Yes | Clip to sample |
| `range` | Yes | `{ "start_s", "end_s" }` inside the clip |
| `prompt` | No | Lyrics for the new song |
| `tags` / `negative_tags` | No | Style, or styles to exclude |
