# Extend

> task=extend — continue an existing clip

Continue a clip you already have. The source is `clip_id`, not a file URL. For a public file, use [Upload extend](/api-reference/suno/generateUploadExtend).

`POST /suno/v2/generate` returns `{ "taskId" }`. Poll [Get Task Status](/api-reference/suno/task). Schema: `GET /suno/v2/generate/schema?task=extend`.

## Parameters

| Field | Required | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| `task` | Yes | `"extend"` |
| `model` | Yes | `chirp-v6` recommended |
| `clip_id` | Yes | The clip to continue |
| `continue_at` | No | Start extending at this second. Omit and the server picks |
| `prompt` | No | Lyrics for the new section |
| `persona` | No | Allowed on extend |
