# Cover

> task=cover — restyle an existing clip

Restyle a clip. `tags` and `prompt` describe the new version. For a public file, use [Upload cover](/api-reference/suno/generateUploadCover).

`POST /suno/v2/generate` returns `{ "taskId" }`. Poll [Get Task Status](/api-reference/suno/task). Schema: `GET /suno/v2/generate/schema?task=cover`.

## Parameters

| Field | Required | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| `task` | Yes | `"cover"` |
| `model` | Yes | `chirp-v6` recommended |
| `clip_id` | Yes | Clip to cover |
| `prompt` | No | Direction for the cover, or new lyrics |
| `tags` | No | Target style |
| `persona` | No | Allowed on cover |
| `controls.audio_weight` | No | How closely to follow the original, 0–1 |
