# Add instrumental

> task=add_instrumental — bed under an a cappella clip

Add a backing track under a vocal clip.

`POST /suno/v2/generate` returns `{ "taskId" }`. Poll [Get Task Status](/api-reference/suno/task). Schema: `GET /suno/v2/generate/schema?task=add_instrumental`.

## Parameters

| Field | Required | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| `task` | Yes | `"add_instrumental"` |
| `model` | Yes | `chirp-v6` recommended |
| `clip_id` | Yes | Vocal / a cappella clip |
| `tags` | No | Style of the bed |
| `controls.audio_weight` | No | How much of the original vocal to keep, 0–1 |
